StagaTV: Nollywood, Hollywood and Asian movies, K-dramas and series, from Mami Wata and House of Ga'a to Queen of Tears and Ne Zha 2
StagaTV began in 2018 as a lively Nigerian video blog. Its 2019 front page was a stream of Nollywood and Yoruba films, movie trailers, music videos and football highlights, with menus for Nollywood Movies, Cinemas in Nigeria, Ghana Videos, Igbo Videos and Yoruba Movies. By 2024 it had grown into a dark, cinematic movie hub with a wide slider at the top and new menus for Korean, Chinese and Japanese movies, Bollywood and Korean dramas. StagaTV today brings both chapters together: the Nollywood heart of the original and the global reach of the later site, with every title opening on the official services in your country through one Watch now button.
This guide starts with the page: the near-black header, the slider, the dark boxes and the poster cards. Then it tours the shelves: Nollywood, the latest Hollywood releases, Korean, Chinese and Japanese cinema, Bollywood, K-dramas and English-language series. It closes with the practical side: where each kind of film streams, subtitles and dubs, devices, free viewing, My List and safe streaming. For the short version, read how to watch on StagaTV.
The StagaTV design
The 2024 StagaTV kept its look in a single combined style sheet, and every colour on StagaTV today is measured from it. The page is nearly black, #0E0E0E, with soft grey text in Fira Sans. The header is darker still, #090909, eighty-eight pixels tall, with a deep shadow that makes it float over the page. Content sits in charcoal boxes, #1C1C1C, each with a thin rule under its title. The accent is a bright cyan, #00ACC1, used for badges, footer headings and highlights, and a steel blue, #2866A7, colours the small buttons.
The 2019 site ran on a magazine theme, and the archive kept only the 2024 style sheet in full, so the rebuild takes its design from 2024 and its heart from 2019: the Nollywood shelf comes first on the home page. Cyan text on the dark page is lifted to a lighter #4FD1E0 so every link reads comfortably.
The header
The header stays pinned to the top. On the left sits the logo: a cyan screen with a dark play triangle, then Staga in white and TV in cyan. The menu runs in soft grey, turning white on hover: Home, Movies, Nollywood, an Asian menu, K-Drama, Series and My List. The Asian menu opens a dark rounded panel in three columns, as in 2024, with Korean movies, Chinese movies, Japanese movies, Bollywood, K-Drama and Animation; each option glows cyan when you point at it.
On the right sits the search, a rounded pill of translucent white that turns light grey when you hover or type, and a small steel-blue button that opens the Top rated shelf, in the spot where the original kept a Random button. On a phone, the menu folds behind three bars.
The slider
Below the header, a wide backdrop slider fills the screen edge to edge, at the same proportions as the 2024 original. Each slide darkens slightly so the text stands out, fading into the page at the bottom. Over it sit the title in large bold white type, a line of meta with a cyan HD badge, the year, the genres and the score, and two lines of the story in light grey. Swipe or scroll to move between slides. A visit might open with Mami Wata, Ne Zha 2, Exhuma or When Life Gives You Tangerines.
The dark boxes
Everything below the slider sits in charcoal boxes with slightly rounded corners, each with a title bar and a thin rule beneath it, and a small steel-blue View all button on the right. The home page opens with a welcome box and four buttons, then the content boxes: Latest update, Nollywood, K-Drama, Asian movies, Bollywood and Series. A sidebar on the right holds a numbered Top rated list and a Genres box.
The poster cards
The cards follow the 2024 design closely. Each poster sits in a tall frame with five-pixel rounded corners. A small translucent tag in the top-left corner shows the score with a star; in the top-right, films carry a white HD tag and series a cyan tag with their episode count. Point at a poster and a cyan play button appears in the middle.
Below the poster come the title, in white over up to two lines, and a meta line in grey: the year, a small dot, the running time or episode count, and a little chip on the right that says Movie or TV. It is a compact, information-rich card that works as well for a three-hour epic as for a sixteen-episode K-drama.
A title page
Each title page opens with the backdrop and poster, then the title, year, running time, genres and score. The story follows, with the director and cast. The Watch now panel lets you choose your country, and Add to My List sits beside it. K-drama and series pages list every season and episode with dates and summaries, and a row of related titles closes each page, so Train to Busan leads to Peninsula, and Chief Daddy to Chief Daddy 2: Going for Broke.
Nollywood
Nollywood is where StagaTV began, and it opens the home page today. Nigeria's film industry is one of the busiest in the world, and in recent years its films have reached audiences everywhere through the streaming services. The Nollywood shelf gathers more than thirty films, and the Nollywood guide picks a short list.
The epics lead the way. House of Ga'a, Kunle Afolayan's drama about a ruthless kingmaker in the old Oyo Empire, and his earlier Aníkúlápó, a Yoruba folk tale about a man who finds the bird of life, show Nollywood at its most ambitious. Elesin Oba: The King's Horseman brings Wole Soyinka's great play to the screen, Amina tells the story of the warrior queen of Zazzau, and Half of a Yellow Sun, adapted from Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's novel, follows two sisters through the Nigerian Civil War.
Every box on the home page is built the same way, so the page stays easy to scan however long you scroll: a clear title, a View all button, and a row of cards with the same tags in the same places. Once you know how to read one card, you can read them all at a glance.
StagaTV on a phone
On a phone, StagaTV keeps its cinematic feel. The header shrinks to the logo and a menu button, and the menu opens as a full panel with the search at the top. The slider becomes taller so the backdrop still fills the screen, with the title and badge over it. Poster cards drop to three and then two per row, the sidebar moves below the main boxes, and every card keeps its score, its HD or episode tag and its year. Pages load quickly even on mobile data, and the whole site works comfortably with one thumb.
The 2019 blog
The first StagaTV was built for a different age of Nigerian film. Its home page was a long feed of new posts: Yoruba films with long, colourful titles, new Nollywood seasons, trailers for Hollywood releases, the latest Afrobeats videos and weekend football highlights, each with a small image and a time stamp. A wide menu listed every category, from Nollywood Movies and Cinemas in Nigeria to Igbo Videos, Music Videos, Sport and Tech. StagaTV today keeps the spirit of that feed in its Latest update box and gives Nollywood pride of place, while the films themselves now play on the official services.
African audiences
StagaTV has always been made with African viewers in mind, which is why the Watch now panel starts with Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and South Africa. Streaming has grown fast across the continent, with Netflix, Prime Video and Showmax all investing in African stories and many services offering mobile-only plans priced for local markets. For viewers who prefer to watch on the family TV, pay-TV decoders and smart TVs now carry the same apps, so a K-drama or a new Nollywood film is as easy to watch in Lagos or Nairobi as anywhere else.
New Nollywood
A new wave of Nigerian filmmakers has taken Nollywood to international festivals. Mami Wata, C.J. Obasi's striking black-and-white fable about a coastal village and its water goddess, won a cinematography award at Sundance. My Father's Shadow, Akinola Davies Jr.'s story of two boys spending a day in Lagos with their father during the 1993 election crisis, premiered at Cannes in 2025. Eyimofe (This Is My Desire) follows two Lagosians dreaming of a life abroad, and The Man of God and Swallow explore faith, ambition and 1980s Lagos.
Nollywood thrillers
The thriller has become one of Nollywood's strongest genres. The Black Book, with Richard Mofe-Damijo as a retired assassin seeking justice for his son, became one of Netflix's most-watched non-English films in 2023. Hijack '93 recreates a real hijacking of a Nigerian airliner, The Trade follows a detective hunting a kidnapping ring, and Tòkunbọ̀, Ramsey Nouah's heist thriller, races through Lagos. Taxi Driver: Oko Ashewo is a darkly funny night-time drive through the city, and Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story reboots a classic crime tale.
Nollywood comedy and romance
Nigerian comedies are some of the most fun films on the shelf. Chief Daddy and Chief Daddy 2: Going for Broke follow a wealthy family scrambling for a fortune, The Wedding Party 2: Destination Dubai continues a record-breaking wedding comedy, and Elevator Baby traps a spoiled young man in a lift with a woman in labour. Breaded Life is a comedy of mistaken identity, and Namaste Wahala brings together a Nigerian lawyer and an Indian banker in a cross-cultural romance. Nneka the Pretty Serpent revives a beloved Nollywood legend. Open Nollywood movies.
Hollywood releases
The Latest update box always opens with the newest titles across the whole catalogue, and many of them are Hollywood's biggest releases. In 2026, Project Hail Mary sends Ryan Gosling on a lonely mission into space, Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey retells Homer on an epic scale, and Toy Story 5, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Supergirl and The Mandalorian and Grogu bring back favourite characters. Michael tells the story of Michael Jackson, and Disclosure Day marks Steven Spielberg's return to science fiction.
The 2025 releases include Superman, F1, Jurassic World Rebirth, Zootopia 2, Avatar: Fire and Ash and the animated musical hit KPop Demon Hunters, and the shelf reaches back to Oppenheimer, Dune: Part Two, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Inside Out 2 and The Wild Robot. The new releases guide keeps a short list.
Korean movies
The 2024 StagaTV gave Korean movies their own menu, and the Korean shelf is one of the most exciting on the site. Parasite, Bong Joon-ho's story of a poor family infiltrating a rich household, won the Palme d'Or and became the first non-English film to win the Oscar for Best Picture. Train to Busan sealed its passengers inside a speeding train during a zombie outbreak, and its sequel Peninsula returns to the ruined country four years later.
Park Chan-wook's Decision to Leave, a detective falls for his murder suspect, won him Best Director at Cannes, and his next thriller followed in 2025. Exhuma turned a shaman's exhumation into the biggest Korean horror hit in years, and The Wailing remains one of the most chilling films ever made in the genre. Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum adds found-footage scares.
For action, Ma Dong-seok punches his way through The Outlaws, The Roundup and The Roundup: No Way Out, and The Gangster, the Cop, the Devil pairs a mob boss and a detective hunting a serial killer. Extreme Job follows detectives going undercover in a fried-chicken shop, Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds travels through the Korean afterlife, 20th Century Girl is a gentle 1999 romance, The Witch: Part 2. The Other One continues a supernatural action saga, and The Great Flood is a 2025 disaster thriller. Open Korean movies.
Chinese movies
Chinese cinema has produced some of the biggest box-office hits in the world. Ne Zha 2 became the highest-grossing animated film of all time in 2025, following Ne Zha, a spirited retelling of the mythical rebel boy. New Gods: Nezha Reborn reinvents the same hero in a steampunk city. The Wandering Earth and The Wandering Earth II imagine humanity pushing the whole planet out of the solar system, and Creation of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms and Creation of the Gods II: Demon Force adapt the classic fantasy novel Investiture of the Gods.
The Legend of Hei and The Legend of Hei 2 are charming hand-drawn adventures about a cat spirit. Better Days, a tough, tender story of a bullied student, was nominated for the Oscar for international feature. Jackie Chan stars in Panda Plan and The Shadow's Edge, Stephen Chow's The Mermaid is a riotous fantasy comedy, and Tsui Hark directs Legends of the Condor Heroes: The Gallants. Resurrection, Bi Gan's dreamlike journey through a century of cinema, won a special prize at Cannes in 2025. Open Chinese movies.
Japanese movies
The Japanese shelf mixes live action and animation. Godzilla Minus One brought the monster back to post-war Japan and won the Oscar for visual effects, and Shin Godzilla reimagined him as a satire of bureaucracy. Hirokazu Kore-eda's Shoplifters won the Palme d'Or and his Monster tells one story from three points of view, and Wim Wenders' Perfect Days follows a Tokyo toilet cleaner who finds beauty in routine, earning Koji Yakusho Best Actor at Cannes. Exit 8 turns a cult video game about an endless subway corridor into a tense thriller.
Anime fans have Makoto Shinkai's Your Name., Weathering with You and Suzume, Hayao Miyazaki's Oscar-winning The Boy and the Heron, the heartfelt Look Back and A Silent Voice: The Movie, and the blockbusters Mugen Train from the Demon Slayer saga, One Piece Film Red and Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time. Open Japanese movies or read the Asian movies guide.
Korean stars
Korean cinema and television share a remarkable generation of actors. Song Kang-ho, the star of Parasite, is one of the most celebrated actors in the world. Ma Dong-seok, known abroad as Don Lee, punches his way through Train to Busan and the Roundup films. Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin led Crash Landing on You and later married in real life, and Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won lead Queen of Tears. IU, one of Korea's biggest singers, stars in Hotel Del Luna and When Life Gives You Tangerines, and Song Joong-ki leads Vincenzo and Descendants of the Sun. Search any of these names and their titles on StagaTV appear.
The rise of Asian animation
Animation from Japan and China has reached new heights. Makoto Shinkai's films, from Your Name. to Suzume, are among the most successful anime ever made, and the Demon Slayer films broke box-office records worldwide. In China, Ne Zha 2 became the most successful animated film ever released, and The Legend of Hei showed the charm of hand-drawn animation. Look Back, a short, moving film about two young manga artists, is proof that anime can be intimate as well as epic. The Animation shelf gathers them all, along with Hollywood favourites.
Soundtracks and OSTs
K-drama soundtracks, known as OSTs, are part of the experience, and many chart in Korea as soon as the episode airs. The songs of Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, Crash Landing on You and Queen of Tears are fan favourites, and Lovely Runner built its whole story around a singer and his songs. On the film side, KPop Demon Hunters turned its fictional K-pop group into a real chart success, and Saiyaara's songs filled playlists across India in 2025.
Bollywood
Bollywood had its own menu on the 2024 site, and the Bollywood shelf gathers the Hindi films audiences across Africa and the world love most. Shah Rukh Khan's 2023 trio of Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki are here, along with the spy action of War, Fighter and Dhurandhar. KILL traps a commando on a night train full of bandits, 12th Fail follows a real student's climb to the police service, and Saiyaara is the romance everyone sang along to in 2025. Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, Crew, Brahmāstra Part One: Shiva and Laal Singh Chaddha round out the shelf. Open Bollywood movies.
K-dramas
K-dramas became a worldwide passion in the last decade, with a big following across Africa, Nigeria included. The K-Drama shelf gathers more than thirty series, each with every episode listed. The K-drama guide gives the short version.
The romances lead the way. Crash Landing on You follows a South Korean heiress who paraglides by accident into North Korea and falls for the officer who hides her. Queen of Tears follows a chaebol heiress and her husband rediscovering their love, and became the highest-rated drama in its channel's history. When Life Gives You Tangerines, with IU and Park Bo-gum, traces a lifelong love story on Jeju Island across decades. Business Proposal, What's Wrong with Secretary Kim, King the Land, Love Next Door and Lovely Runner, a time-travel romance between a fan and her favourite singer, are sweet and funny.
The fantasy dramas mix romance with the supernatural: Guardian: The Lonely and Great God follows an immortal goblin looking for his bride, Hotel Del Luna runs a hotel for ghosts with IU as its owner, Alchemy of Souls builds a world of mages, and Tale of the Nine Tailed, My Demon and The Uncanny Counter bring folklore into modern Seoul. Strong Girl Bong-soon gives its heroine super strength.
K-drama thrillers and more
For something darker, Vincenzo follows a mafia lawyer taking on a corrupt conglomerate, Mouse is a twisting serial-killer mystery, and Bloodhounds follows two young boxers taking on a loan shark. Weak Hero is a gripping school drama about a quiet student who fights back, D.P. follows military police chasing deserters, and Revenge of Others is a high-school revenge mystery.
Extraordinary Attorney Woo, about a brilliant lawyer on the autism spectrum, is one of the warmest K-dramas ever made. Descendants of the Sun pairs a soldier and a surgeon, and Marry My Husband is a satisfying second-chance revenge tale, and the historical Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth and The King's Affection travel back to the Silla and Joseon eras. Open K-Drama.
Directors to follow
Some names promise a great evening. In Nigeria, Kunle Afolayan made Aníkúlápó, Swallow and House of Ga'a, C.J. Obasi made Mami Wata, and Jade Osiberu made The Trade. In Korea, Bong Joon-ho made Parasite, Park Chan-wook made Decision to Leave, Na Hong-jin made The Wailing and Yeon Sang-ho made Train to Busan and Peninsula. In Japan, Makoto Shinkai made Your Name., Weathering with You and Suzume, and Hirokazu Kore-eda made Shoplifters and Monster. In China, Guo Fan made the Wandering Earth films and Wuershan the Creation of the Gods trilogy.
Films worth a second look
Some films reward a second visit. Parasite is full of details that only make sense once you know the ending, Monster changes completely as each point of view is revealed, and Decision to Leave hides clues in its framing. The Wailing leaves room for endless theories, and Your Name. plays beautifully the second time, once you understand the twist in its timeline.
Watching as a family
For a family evening, the Animation shelf is the best place to start: Ne Zha, The Legend of Hei, Your Name., Zootopia 2, Inside Out 2 and The Wild Robot suit most ages. Elevator Baby and Chief Daddy are Nollywood comedies the whole family can enjoy, and Extraordinary Attorney Woo is a K-drama loved by parents and teenagers alike. Most services let you create a kids profile so younger viewers see titles suited to them.
English-language series
The Series shelf gathers the English-language shows that are easy to love. Reacher follows Lee Child's giant drifter through one case a season, Lioness follows a CIA programme that places women undercover, and Yellowstone tells the Dutton family's fight for their Montana ranch. Silo and FROM are gripping mysteries, The Witcher and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power are fantasy epics, and Loki and Superman & Lois bring the superheroes. The Rookie, 9-1-1 and Station 19 are comfortable long-running procedurals, and Ted Lasso is pure warmth. Open Series.
Top rated
The Top rated shelf gathers every title scoring eight or more from a large number of TMDB voters, and it is one of the most varied lists on StagaTV. Parasite, Your Name., A Silent Voice: The Movie, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Oppenheimer share the list with K-dramas like Crash Landing on You, Extraordinary Attorney Woo and When Life Gives You Tangerines. The sidebar shows its ten leaders on every page, and the full shelf lives at Top rated.
The genre shelves
Beside the country shelves, StagaTV sorts everything by genre. Action gathers Hollywood blockbusters, Bollywood spy films, Korean cop thrillers like The Roundup and Nollywood heists like Tòkunbọ̀. Thriller, crime and mystery brings The Black Book, Decision to Leave, Mouse and The Trade. Comedy has Chief Daddy, Extreme Job, Business Proposal and The Mermaid. Fantasy and sci-fi has The Wandering Earth II, Alchemy of Souls and Project Hail Mary, Horror has Exhuma, The Wailing and Train to Busan, and Animation covers Ne Zha 2, Your Name. and KPop Demon Hunters. The Genres box lists them all.
How Watch now works
Every title page has a Watch now panel with a country list: Nigeria first, then Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Ireland, India, South Korea, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates. Choose yours and press Watch now; StagaTV opens the title's JustWatch page for that country.
JustWatch groups the options into subscription, rental, purchase and free. Pick one and the title opens in that service's own app or website. StagaTV remembers your country, so the next title opens straight to the right list.
Where the titles stream
In Nigeria and across Africa, Netflix, Prime Video and Showmax carry most recent Nollywood films and series, and many Nigerian studios publish films on their official YouTube channels. Korean dramas stream on Netflix, Viki and Viu, depending on the country, and Chinese titles also appear on iQIYI and Youku's international services. Hollywood releases stream on Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ and HBO Max, and Bollywood on Netflix, Prime Video and JioHotstar in India.
The exact line-up changes from country to country, which is why Watch now always asks where you are. The page on where the titles stream gives an overview.
Subtitles and dubs
K-dramas and Asian films are usually watched with subtitles, and the official services offer English subtitles for nearly all of them, often alongside French, Spanish, Portuguese and Arabic. Many popular titles also have English dubs. Nollywood films are mostly in English, with Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa films subtitled. Open the speech-bubble menu in the player to choose. The subtitles page explains more.
Bollywood in Africa
Hindi films have a long history in Africa. For decades, Bollywood melodramas and musicals played in cinemas and on television from Kano to Nairobi, and many older viewers grew up singing their songs. That affection lives on, and it is one reason the 2024 StagaTV gave Bollywood its own menu. Today's Hindi blockbusters, from Pathaan to Dhurandhar, stream with English subtitles on the major services, and Namaste Wahala even turned the Nigerian and Indian connection into a romantic comedy.
Reading the scores
The small score tag on each card is the average TMDB rating out of ten. K-dramas and anime tend to score highly because their devoted fans rate them eagerly, while Nollywood films often have fewer votes, so their scores can move as more people watch. The title page shows the vote count too, so you can see how settled a score is. Use it as a starting point, read the story, and let your own taste decide. Some of the most rewarding films on the site are smaller Nollywood and Asian titles with modest vote counts.
From trailers to the full film
Trailers were a big part of the original StagaTV, which posted new trailers for Hollywood and Nollywood releases every day. Today the best place for a trailer is the official channel of each studio or streaming service, and the title page on StagaTV gives you the story, the cast and the Watch now panel in one place. When a trailer catches your eye, search for the film on StagaTV, add it to My List, and check back when it reaches the services in your country.
Japanese live action
Japan's live-action films are as rewarding as its anime. Godzilla Minus One is a moving story of a former kamikaze pilot searching for purpose after the war, as much a human drama as a monster movie. Shin Godzilla turns a monster attack into a sharp comedy about government meetings. Perfect Days finds poetry in the routines of a Tokyo toilet cleaner who loves old cassette tapes and trees, and Exit 8 is a clever, tense puzzle set in a subway corridor that keeps repeating. Shoplifters and Monster show why Hirokazu Kore-eda is one of the world's most admired filmmakers.
Phones, tablets and TVs
StagaTV runs in any modern browser. On an Android phone, open the Chrome menu and choose Add to Home screen; on an iPhone, tap Share and then Add to Home Screen. The StagaTV icon appears with your other apps and opens the site full-screen, with your country and My List ready.
Titles play in the official apps of each service, from Google Play or the App Store. On the television, the same apps run on Fire TV, Google TV, Apple TV, smart TVs from Samsung, LG and Hisense, and on pay-TV boxes such as the Showmax and DStv decoders in many African countries. Chromecast and AirPlay send the picture from your phone to the big screen. The apps and devices page covers each one.
Watching on mobile data
Many StagaTV visitors watch on their phones, often on mobile data. Most official apps have a data-saver setting that lowers picture quality to stretch your bundle, and most let you download films and episodes on Wi-Fi to watch later in airplane mode. StagaTV's own pages are light, with posters sized for phones, so browsing the catalogue uses very little data.
HD and 4K
The official services stream in HD as standard, mostly 1080p, and the big releases often stream in 4K with HDR and Dolby Atmos. Godzilla Minus One, Dune: Part Two, Avatar: Fire and Ash and The Wandering Earth II are showcase titles for a good screen. Around five megabits per second is enough for smooth HD and around twenty-five for 4K. The video quality page has more.
Free and legal viewing
Plenty of great viewing is free. Many Nigerian studios publish full films on their official YouTube channels, and Viki and Tubi offer K-dramas and films free with adverts in many countries. When a title on StagaTV has a free option in your country, it appears in the Watch now list beside the paid ones. Trial periods on subscription services are another good way to watch a short series like D.P. or Weak Hero. The free movies page keeps a list.
My List
My List is the StagaTV watchlist. Press Add to My List on any title page and it is saved in your browser, private to you. For K-dramas and series, mark the episode you reached on each season page and StagaTV remembers your place, handy for dramas of sixteen to twenty episodes like Queen of Tears or Vincenzo. Export saves your list to a small file and Import restores it on another device. The My List page explains more.
Search and A-Z
The search box shows matching titles as you type and understands English and original titles, so a K-drama or an anime can be found by either name. Press Enter for the full search page with filters for type, genre, year, language and score. The A-Z list shows every title alphabetically, and finding a title collects every route.
Choosing what to watch
With films from five countries and dozens of series in one place, a few questions help. Are you in the mood for something from home or something from far away? The Nollywood box sits at the top, with Korean, Chinese and Japanese films close behind. A single evening or a longer journey? The chip on every card says Movie or TV, and series cards show their episode count. Something light or something intense? The genre shelves have both, from Business Proposal to Exhuma.
New releases
The New releases shelf gathers everything from 2025 and 2026, newest first, and it is the most varied shelf on StagaTV. Nollywood's My Father's Shadow sits beside Hollywood's Project Hail Mary, China's Ne Zha 2 and The Shadow's Edge, Korea's The Great Flood, India's Dhurandhar and Saiyaara, and K-dramas like When Life Gives You Tangerines. New films usually reach the streaming services a few weeks or months after their cinema run, and Watch now always shows where a title is available right now. Open New releases or read the new releases guide.
Ideas for a movie night
For a Nollywood evening, pair House of Ga'a with Aníkúlápó for a night of Yoruba history and legend, or Chief Daddy with The Wedding Party 2: Destination Dubai for laughs. For a Korean double bill, try Train to Busan and Exhuma. For animation, Ne Zha 2 and Your Name. show two very different sides of Asian cinema. And for a big-screen spectacle, Godzilla Minus One followed by The Wandering Earth II makes a thrilling pairing.
K-drama binge plans
K-dramas usually run to sixteen episodes of about an hour each, so a full drama makes a perfect two-weekend plan. Start with a romance like Crash Landing on You or Business Proposal, move to a fantasy like Alchemy of Souls or Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, and try a thriller like Vincenzo or Mouse when you want something sharper. Weak Hero and D.P. have shorter seasons of eight and six episodes, ideal for a single weekend.
From video to streaming
Nollywood grew from direct-to-video films in the 1990s into one of the largest film industries in the world by volume. Where films once travelled on VHS tapes and later on video CDs and blogs, today they premiere in cinemas across Nigeria and arrive on streaming services that reach audiences everywhere. Kunle Afolayan's partnership with Netflix, the success of The Black Book and the festival journeys of Mami Wata and My Father's Shadow show how far the industry has come. StagaTV's first home page, full of Nollywood and Yoruba films, captured the blog era; StagaTV today follows those films onto the official services.
Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa stories
Nigerian cinema speaks many languages. Yoruba-language films were the heart of the 2019 StagaTV, and today's best Yoruba stories reach cinemas and streaming: Aníkúlápó, House of Ga'a and Elesin Oba: The King's Horseman draw on Yoruba history and myth, and Taxi Driver: Oko Ashewo mixes Yoruba and English on the streets of Lagos. Amina draws on Hausa history in the north. Subtitles on the official services make these stories open to every viewer.
Recognising StagaTV
StagaTV has a clear look: a near-black header with a deep shadow, the cyan play-screen logo, a pill-shaped search and a steel-blue button, a wide backdrop slider with a cyan HD badge, charcoal boxes of rounded poster cards with small chips, and a charcoal footer with cyan headings. Bookmark the home page and add it to your phone's home screen. The official site page gives the details, and the site status page helps when a page loads slowly.
Safe streaming
Install apps only from Google Play, the App Store or your TV's store, keep your devices updated, and use a different strong password for each service with two-step sign-in switched on. Before you pay or sign in, check that the address bar shows the service's real name. StagaTV sends you to JustWatch, and JustWatch sends you to the official services, so every step is a trusted one. The safety page has a checklist.
Where to start with K-dramas
New to K-dramas? Start with a romantic comedy that has won over viewers everywhere: Crash Landing on You or Business Proposal are ideal first dramas, funny, romantic and easy to follow. If you prefer something darker, Vincenzo mixes crime, comedy and revenge, and Extraordinary Attorney Woo offers a new courtroom case in almost every episode. Fantasy fans should try Guardian: The Lonely and Great God or Hotel Del Luna, and anyone who loves a good cry will find it in When Life Gives You Tangerines. Most K-dramas tell a complete story in a single season, so there is always a satisfying ending.
Why Korean thrillers stand out
Korean thrillers are famous for their twists, their bursts of dark humour and their willingness to mix genres. A zombie film like Train to Busan becomes a story about class and sacrifice, a crime drama like The Gangster, the Cop, the Devil pairs enemies against a greater evil, and a horror film like Exhuma weaves in history and folklore. Small wonder that Korean films have won the top prizes at Cannes and the Oscars.
Chinese fantasy and myth
Many of the biggest Chinese films draw on classical myth. Ne Zha and Ne Zha 2 retell the story of a rebellious boy with magic powers from the novel Investiture of the Gods, which also inspired Creation of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms and Creation of the Gods II: Demon Force. The Mermaid updates a folk tale with Stephen Chow's slapstick, and Legends of the Condor Heroes: The Gallants adapts Jin Yong's beloved martial-arts novels. These films are a spectacular introduction to Chinese storytelling.
Privacy
StagaTV keeps your data in your own browser. My List, your episode marks and your chosen country stay on your device, ready to clear at any time or move with Export and Import. Posters, stories, cast and episodes come from TMDB, the community film and TV database, and the viewing options come from JustWatch.
How the catalogue is chosen
The catalogue follows StagaTV's two chapters. Nollywood films come first, chosen from the Nigerian productions with the biggest audiences on TMDB. Around them sit the menus of the 2024 site: Hollywood releases, Korean, Chinese and Japanese films, Bollywood, K-dramas and English-language series. Every title is checked by hand before it joins a shelf, with a poster, a story and a score, and series come with their seasons and episodes. The catalogue focuses on films and scripted series, and leaves extreme horror and adult titles to other places.
A short history of StagaTV
StagaTV appeared in 2018 as a Nigerian video website, and its archived August 2019 home page shows a busy blog of Nollywood and Yoruba films, movie trailers, music videos, football highlights and tech news, with a language switcher and a Facebook box in the sidebar. By January 2024 it had become a dark movie hub with a slider, poster boxes and menus for Korean, Chinese and Japanese movies, Bollywood and K-dramas. StagaTV today keeps the look of 2024 and the Nollywood spirit of 2019, and points every title to the official services.
